Frequently asked questions
- How do I resize an image for social media?
- Upload your image. Choose one of the six presets (e.g. IG Post, IG Story, Twitter, YouTube Thumbnail, Facebook Cover, LinkedIn). Optionally pick a background color. Click Resize and download the JPG.
- Are my images sent to a server?
- No. Resizing is done with the Canvas API in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
- What is the background color for?
- When your image does not match the preset aspect ratio, the tool fills the remaining space with a solid color. Default is white; you can change it with the color picker.
- Why is the output always JPG?
- JPG at 92% quality is a good balance for social posts and keeps file size small. For PNG (e.g. transparency) use the main Resize Image tool.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes. Open the tool in your mobile browser, upload an image, pick a preset and optional background color, then resize and download.
- Can I use custom dimensions?
- This tool only offers the six social presets. For custom dimensions use the main Resize Image tool on FileFlip.
- Will quality be reduced?
- The image is scaled to fit the preset. If larger than the preset it is downscaled (quality usually good). If smaller it is upscaled and may look softer.
- What are the exact preset sizes?
- IG Post 1080×1080; IG Story / TikTok 1080×1920; Twitter 1200×675; YouTube Thumbnail 1280×720; Facebook Cover 820×312; LinkedIn Post 1200×627. All in pixels.
- Is there a file size limit?
- There is no fixed limit. Very large images may take a few seconds to process.
- Does it work in all browsers?
- Yes. Any modern browser that supports the Canvas API can run this tool.
